Here we have another brand new LNER Thompson B1, currently presented as No. 1003 'Gazelle' (although we can of course change the name and number to your requirements!)
Built again to the very well proven Martin Evans 'Springbok' design, this model is brand new with a very tidy professional copper boiler and has yet to see steam. Built by a well respected model engineer, the machining work is particularly good and nicely finished. The paintwork too is unusually good for a Springbok,..... (Original LNER fully lined out apple green as 1003 'Gazelle') it's nice to see one where the builder is as skilled with a lining pen as he is with a milling machine!
It's got all the usual things you'd expect, mechanical lubricator on the running board, cab operated drain cocks, an injector, axle pump and of course the obligatory 'I need more practice' emergency hand pump in the tender!
Although, being a Springbok, this isn't technically a perfectly scale Thompson B1, the wheels are a fraction under true scale and the width is a little bit over scale, (presumably Martin Evans decided a slightly wider cab would be an aid to driving), this is probably one of the best Springboks that you are likely to see. For that reason we are afraid it isn't going to be quite as cheep as the last one. The model can be supplied in it's un-steamed, entirely as new condition, or of course we can 'commission' it for you.
